It started with a girl who could not watch somebody go hungry
Ogochukwu Helping Hands Foundation was not built in a boardroom. It was built in kitchens, at school gates and on the backs of delivery trucks — long before it had a name, a certificate or a single donor.
Before the certificate
A habit of kindness that simply refused to stop
Long before there was a foundation, there was a young woman who fed people. It was not organised. There was no budget line and no photographer. There was simply a rule she lived by: if there is food in this house, nobody near me sleeps hungry.
As the years passed, that rule grew heavier and more beautiful. School fees were paid quietly for children who were not hers. Uniforms appeared. Rent was covered. A widow’s market stock was replaced. A frightened family found somebody willing to stand in the room with them.
Word travels in communities like ours. People began arriving at the door — not because anything had been advertised, but because somebody had told them, go and see Ogochukwu, she will not send you away.
By the time the work was formally registered, it had already been running for years on nothing but conviction, a successful foodstuffs business, and a family who had learned to share everything.
Nobody eats alone.

The day the helping hands became an institution
Registering was never about prestige. It was about accountability — giving the families we serve, and the people who support us, something they can independently verify.
On 17th January 2025, the Corporate Affairs Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria incorporated Ogochukwu Helping Hands Foundation as a registered corporate body under registration number 8190659, certified by the Registrar-General, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN.
With registration came obligations we welcomed: named trustees on public record, a tax identification number, proper books, and the expectation that we can answer for every naira. That is exactly the standard this work deserves.

How the work is funded
Powered by honest business, not by appeals
The foundation is sustained by the founder's own foodstuffs and bulk food supply business. Before a single donation arrives, the work is already moving.
Every bag of rice, every crate of drinks and every school fee begins as real commercial activity — stock bought, sold and delivered. That trading is what allows us to promise a family something and then actually keep the promise.
It also means gifts from supporters go further. They are not covering overheads or keeping the lights on; they are added directly to a distribution that was happening anyway, extending its reach to more homes.

Love
Not sentiment — decision. We choose people before they have done anything to earn it, and we keep choosing them.
Peace
Homes should be safe. We work to lower the temperature in families, streets and communities, not to raise it.
Giving
We give from real business, real stores and real income. What we hand over has already been paid for honestly.
Growing Together
Nobody is a permanent recipient here. The goal is always the day a family no longer needs us — and starts giving too.
Where we work
Deeply local, wherever we are.
We are registered in Okota, Lagos, and we go wherever the need takes us — from Lagos market streets to rural communities far from any clinic, pharmacy or clean water point.
Wherever we work, we work the same way: close enough to knock on the door. A foundation that cannot visit the homes it serves cannot verify anything it claims — and we would rather do less, verified, than more, assumed.
That has taken us from Lagos streets to villages where the nearest pharmacy is hours away, and where the arrival of a borehole changes every single day that follows.
Our standards of record-keeping, consent and reporting are held to the level an international partner would expect, because the people we serve deserve nothing lower.
